1. Insight Becomes First Hybrid Vehicle to Rank as Best-Selling Vehicle in Japan
Honda announced that Insight ranked as the industry's best-selling car among new vehicle registrations in Japan for the month of April 2009, with sales of 10,481 units. It is the first time in history that a hybrid model has become the industry's best selling vehicle in Japan for any monthly sales period. The Honda Fit (known as the Jazz in Europe) was the best-selling car for March 2009 until it was displaced by Insight to become the second best-selling car in April 2009. 2. Honda Begins Production of Civic GX Natural Gas Vehicles (U.S.)
In May Honda began production of the environmentally responsible, natural gas-powered Civic GX, at its plant in Greensburg, Indiana. The Civic GX is the only natural gas vehicle built by a major automaker in the U.S. First introduced in 1998, the Civic GX is the cleanest internal combustion vehicle certified by the EPA - 90% cleaner than the average petrol-powered car on the road today. http://www.hondanews.com/categories/1097/releases/5007
3. Honda Jazz Achieves Top Euro NCAP Overall Safety Rating
The New Honda Jazz has been rated one of Europe‘s safest cars according to the new independent crash testing results from Euro NCAP. The Jazz has been awarded the maximum 5-star rating which follows on from the 5 star results achieved by both the Honda Civic and the Honda Accord. 4. Honda Begins Sales of Honda Safety Navi Safe Driving Educational Software for PC-based Auto Driving Simulator
Honda has begun sales of Honda Safety Navi, new educational software for safe driving in Japan. The software contains two programs. One program helps users understand fuel-efficient driving techniques and learn the key points of eco-driving. The other program helps users learn key points of safe driving. Honda Safety Navi is designed to enable users to enjoy learning about eco and safe driving. 5. Honda Jazz Hits Half a Million
The Honda Jazz has recently broken the 500,000 sales mark in Europe, demonstrating the continuing popularity of this perception altering 5-door hatchback. Commenting on beating the 500,000 sales mark, Honda Motor Europe, Senior Vice President, Ken Keir said: "The Jazz really changed things in the B-segment when it arrived in 2002. People are still amazed by just how much space there is inside both for passengers and luggage.
