Honda releases restyled NSX

The new, restyled NSX is released onto the market, achieving an evolution in styling and driving performance.

Tokyo, December 6, 2001 - Honda Motor Co., Ltd., announced its plans to launch the new, restyled NSX, which has been highly evaluated since its debut in 1990 as a genuine sports car that continues to evolve, from Honda Verno dealerships around Japan starting on December 14, 2001 (Friday). The new NSX has a completely new look and enhanced driving performance with improvements made to the aerodynamic characteristics and a change in the tire size.

Also, the new NSX Type R, the “pure sports model” with more advanced maneuverability achieved by making further reductions in weight and by applying racing car tuning technology, is currently in the final stage of its development and is expected to be put on the market next spring.

?The main changes made
û A totally new exterior styling was designed based on the concept of “Smart & Sports.” A strong, sharp-looking exterior design was created along with an improved aerodynamic performance by adopting the newly designed projector-type discharge headlights, the front bumper, rear bumper skirt, door garnish and the rear combination lamps.
û The change in the tire size (Front: 215/40R17, Rear: 255/40R17) and the adoption of the newly designed aluminum forged wheels that were jointly developed with BBS Japan Co., Ltd. (Washibeam Co., Ltd.) have resulted in improvements in driving stability and cornering performance at the limit.
û New colors were selected for the meters, center panel, door panels and the audio equipment and air conditioner switches and controls.
û Some changes and additions were made to the custom-order plan, offering rich combinations of interior and exterior colors, including the adoption of new colors for the body and interior.
